Jalna

ocated in the Indian state of Maharastra, Jalna district is one of the popular tourist spots in India. This district covers a total area of about 7,612 square kilometers. Jalgaon lies close to Jalna district. One can refer to the Jalna District Map to know in-detail about the National Highway, district boundary, district headquarter and many other significant things.

History:

The district is known for the Battle of Assaye, fought on Septemeber 23 in the year 1803, close to Assaye village. Assaye is close to Jafrabad in the district of Jalna. There is a British Cantonment along with an old cemetery in Jalna. This cemetery has the graves of the martyrs who were killed in the Assaye battle.

Tourist attractions of Jalna District:

The religious places of Jalna District are its prime attractions. Some of them are:

Shree Ganesh of Rajur: The Ganesh temple of Rajur is situated at a distance of about 25 kilometers from the city of Jalna. Pilgrims from far and wide come to this temple particularly during Chathurthi. A fair is also hosted in this temple during Angarika Chaturthi .

The Matsyodari devi Temple, Ambad: Located at a distance of 21 kilometers from Jalna city, this temple is one of the ancient temples of the area. The Matsyodari Devi Temple is built in the shape of a fish. During Navratra a fair is held in this temple.

Jamb Samartha, Ghansawangi: Sant Ramdas Swami was born in Jamb Samarth. Located in Ghansavangi tehsil, this place has religious value. In the Ram temple a fair is arranged every year during Ram Navami .

How to reach Jalna District:

One can take train or bus in order to reach Jalna district. Train service keeps the district well-connected with places such as Hyderabad, Pune , Mumbai and Aurangabad.
